ElasticSearch is quickly becoming one of the primary contenders in the search space: it is distributed, highly available, fast, RESTful, and ready to be plugged into Web applications. Its developers have been busy in the last year; this talk will do a quick introduction to ElasticSearch and cover some of the most interesting and exciting new features. We might even take down a live server or two to illustrate a point.

Recently software architect at AppDynamics and a founding member of Analog Co-op. Previously, I was Open Source Fellow at Digg and a platform engineer at Yahoo. As a core developer of PHP and a member of the PHP Group, I helped curate development of the world’s most popular web development language. Along the way, I started PHP-GTK, helped create Smarty, co-wrote PHP Developer’s Cookbook, and architected Unicode support that would have been in PHP 6.
